With scorching temperatures in the forecast, Orange County, N.Y.’s spectacular lakes and breathtaking rivers offer ways to beat the heat for the whole family. “With summer in full swing, families can enjoy endless opportunities for some fun on the water right here in Orange County,” said Orange County Tourism Director Amanda Dana. “Spend the day taking in scenic views and all that our region has to offer in the summer. After being out on the water, unwind with a meal from one of our local farm-to-table restaurants or craft beverage locations to make the day truly unforgettable.”

Pride of the Hudson, 90 Front Street, Newburgh: Cruise through the majestic Hudson Highlands aboard the luxurious Pride of the Hudson. Bask in the open air on one of the boat’s many narrated sightseeing expeditions down the historic Hudson River. Reservations for cruises are now being accepted.

Thomas P. Morahan Beach, Windermere Avenue, Greenwood Lake: Sit back and soak in the sun or take a dip in Greenwood Lake during the day. At night, relax and unwind while listening to one of the numerous concerts at Waterfront Park. Beach access is limited to residents of Warwick only. Non-residents may purchase a day pass only if they are accompanied by a resident with a valid pass.
