With Tourism Website’s New and Dynamic Navigation Options
ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y. – Now it’s easier and more fun to plan your ideal trip to Orange County, N.Y.!
Orange County Tourism and Film has revamped its website, orangetourism.org, to provide a dynamic, interactive experience that allows you to create your own customized itinerary to visit the county’s popular destinations, shops, lively craft beverage venues and more. You also can download Tourism experts’ suggested itineraries.
“Now it’s easier than ever to plan a day, weekend or longer visit to Orange County, N.Y., and to enjoy everything that adds up to a perfect excursion,” said Amanda Dana, director of Orange County Tourism and Film. “There’s so much to see and do here, and the new website features are perfect for exploring the possibilities and finding your favorites to add to your itinerary.”
Just 50 miles from New York City amid the splendor of the Hudson River Valley, Orange County features major destinations such as the LEGOLAND® New York and Storm King Art Center, as well as orchards for picking your own apples and pumpkins, shops for handmade gifts, antique stores, craft breweries, cideries, wineries and distilleries, and even two drive-in movie theaters.
On the website, each location, craft beverage place, restaurant and hotel is featured on its own dedicated page listed under “Things to Do,” “Dine,” and “Stay,” or under “Weddings & Celebrations” and “Groups & Guided Tours.” Each page provides information about the spot, Google reviews, and a list of nearby activities, restaurants, hotels and more. The site also links to the attractions’ web pages and Google listings for more information.
The calendar of events, long a popular feature on the site, now showcases concerts, festivals and other happenings with more prominent, eye-catching photos. Search by date or category, then follow links to the venues and locations.
Creating an itinerary is easy. Start on the page of an event, activity or a place you would like to visit and click on the button to add to your list. Once you have created a list, you can add to it from the suggested restaurants, shops, hotels and more, or find more destinations elsewhere on the site. If you prefer your visit planned for you, the site’s suggested itineraries include tours such as Two-Day Famous Highlights, Black Dirt, Find the Time to Wine and Urban Brewery-Farm. Download an itinerary as a PDF or map the route instantly via Google Maps. The function also tells you how far you’ll drive and how much time it takes to get to all of your destinations.
“The best part is that you don’t have to fit your robust list of potential visits into one trip,” Dana said. “You can create as many itineraries as you want, and return again and again to Orange County, N.Y., to make more happy memories!”
To create the enhanced site, with its eye-catching photos and helpful, interactive maps, the Tourism agency partnered with ITI Digital, a software solutions and digital service pioneer serving the travel industry, and Focus Media, an award-winning full-service marketing, public relations and advertising agency based in Orange County.
